How does osmosis differ from diffusion

Background information can be found in the Student Workbook as well as the OpenStax textbook, or online (just be sure to cite your references in the text as
well as provide the citiation at the end of the report).
This should include:
What is osmosis?
How does osmosis differ from diffusion?
What is concentration?
What determines the direction of movement of molecules?
What is osmotic pressure?
What is a semipermeable membrane?
Define the following: solute, solvent, solution
Define the following solutions: hypertonic, hypotonic, isotonic.
How do the different solutions affect a cell?Explain why/how.
What is the purpose of the activity?
For methods tell me what the program was that we used. Then breifly describe what you are manipulating and provide the variables that you used for each
exercise. I would recommend referencing SimUText and providing appropriate citations.
When reporting your results remember that you should provide both a written descriiption and I would recreate any tables from the student workbook and
include a column for what the results were on the cell.
Your discussion should explain to me why you observed the cell either shrinking or bursting, depending on what your manipluations were for each excercise.
Then simply tell me what you learned and how this can be applied to real life applications such as receiving an IV and why it is important to have specific
concentrations of molecules in the solution.
Hint: Scientific writting is rather bland… You would simply report what was observed, for example you could say “The cell burst as a result of an influx of
water molecules.”; but would not say “As water flooded the cell like middle-school girls rushing the stage at a BTS concert the cell burst like a cosmic
explosion leading to the formation new of solo careers.”
