Drawing on your experiences in your practice setting or the one depicted in the Vila Health scenario, analyze current interprofessional collaboration practices and make recommendations for improvements in a presentation to the administration.
• At a minimum, your presentation must include the following slides:
o Title.
o Purpose (the reasons for your presentation).
o Importance of Communication.
o Forms of Communication.
o Characteristics of High-Performing Teams.
o Analysis of Current Interprofessional Collaboration Practices.
o Recommendations.
• Include a References slide at the end of your presentation.
• Your slide deck should consist of 15–18 slides, not including the title, purpose, and references slides.
Supporting Evidence
• Cite at least 8–10 sources of credible, scholarly or professional evidence to support your analysis and recommendations.
• List your sources on the references slide.
Presentation Development
The requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Be sure that your presentation addresses each point, at a minimum. You may also want to read the Interprofessional Collaboration Scoring Guide to better understand how each criterion will be assessed.
• Describe the value of communication to the care coordination process.
o Consider the effects of effective and ineffective communications on patient outcomes and the quality of care.
• Categorize the forms of communication that will best serve a patient’s needs and achieve the best outcomes for the patient and collaborative results for clinical teams.
• Describe five characteristics of high-performing teams and how these characteristics influence care coordination and measurement.
o Why are these characteristics reflective of high-performing teams?
o What evidence do you have to support your assertions and conclusions?
• Analyze current interprofessional collaboration practices.
o Identify the participants providing collaborative, coordinated care.
o Describe relevant and substantive interactions and outcomes.
o Assess the effects of current practices on care coordination.
• Recommend changes to current interprofessional collaboration practices.
o What is the basis for your conclusions?
o What evidence supports your recommendations?
o Might there be conflicting viewpoints or alternatives?
• Present your findings and recommendations to stakeholders clearly and accurately.
o Address the anticipated needs and concerns of your audience.
o What questions or objections are they likely to raise? How will you respond?
o Express your main points and conclusions coherently.
• Proofread your slides to minimize errors that could distract the audience and make it more difficult to focus on the substance of your presentation.
• Support main points, arguments, and conclusions with relevant and credible evidence, correctly formatting citations and references using current APA style.
o Ensure that the evidence you provide is clear, explicit, and understood by all stakeholders.
o How or why does particular evidence support a claim?
o Will your audience see the connection?
