Introduction and objectives:
- It should be said that the investigation questions are what topics can be interesting for non-linguistic degree students to study Second Language (L2)?
- What is the approach to facilitate the teaching-learning process of these topics?
- How can university training based on competences be fostered?
4.Or it can be said that the question of the study was to analyse at what degree the competences designed by the non-linguistic university are integrated.
The objective of the investigation:
to combine communicative competence and professional competences. Moreover, apart from the university competences, mediation as a new key aspect for teaching and learning L2 according to the CEFR was considered.
Methodology:
A survey/questionnaire was carried out to identify the features of personalized learning implementation and to analyse the role of the student, its future labour necessities and its thematic preferences. Also, to improve the didactic planification to improve the communicative-professional experience at B2 level. Then a dossier was designed organized by the topics based on language 4 skills.
Results:
The survey showed that the majority of the participants (industrial design students) had previous studies/experience and certificates in English and only 23% had none. Around 78% indicated that they need English for future labour carrier. And in terms of language skills improvement 47,4% indicated that more specific technical vocabulary was needed and 81,6% highlighted the importance of speaking skill development.
In terms of topic preferences the priority was given to Business and Industry (46,1%).
The Dossier
Based to the survey a Dossier was developed with language objectives based on B2 level according to CEFR.
Unit 3 was tested in of the universities in Kazakhstan. When the unit delivery was completed, the teacher carried out a survey to obtain students opinion.
Although the level of the students was B1, high interest of students and teachers towards the competences integration was observed.
