Issues Impacting Military Women

Project on Services for Military Women maps to the following SOCY 462 learning outcomes (course objectives):

apply sociological theory and interpret empirical data in order to examine women’s changing roles in the military
examine violence against women in the military in order to evaluate the connection to gender construction and power
assess how policies related to gender, class, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and religion impact women in the military
examine military, community, and family support systems and their impact on the advancement of women in the military
Select an issue impacting military women that is of interest to you and relevant to the class (e.g., family violence, child care, sexual harassment and assault, wounded warriors, etc.). Drawing on a variety of sources (e.g., your local base, library resources, web pages, etc.) do a thorough investigation/analysis of the social service that you selected.
Make a list of interview questions that you would ask a person responsible for providing the military social service that you selected. Keep in mind that your goal is to not only to inform your readership, but to make your interview into a piece of interesting and compelling reading.
Using the questions that you prepared, interview a person responsible for providing the military family and/or social service you selected.
