Read Jensen, Ch 4 (review) Elements of Movement and Dance PPT (Piper) Write a 2-3 page essay discussing kinesthetic arts in education. Address the following 1. What are Kinesthetic Arts? 2. Discuss the "movement center" in the brain and the belief that kinesthetic arts enhance cognition, self-concept, creativity, emotional intelligence, motivation, social skills, health, and stress reduction. 3. Provide examples of movement activities for the different developmental stages. 4. Based on this chapter, what do you think is the value of physical activity, movement, and kinesthetic arts in the academic setting? What changes should be made in schools in regards to movement education and kinesthetic arts? Should Physical Education (PE) and other forms of kinesthetic arts be mandatory? Why or why not?
