The hospital should have encouraged stakeholder participation in making the changes. Full stakeholder
participation would reduce the risk of resistance to the changes.
Instead of reducing the number of mid-level staff, the hospital should have re-tasked the staff into different
positions where they could be more effective. This would have helped reduce resistance to the changes.
Apply Lean Six Sigma methods that would systematically remove waste and reduce variation in process and
procedure improvements.
Motivate employees by directing them to help achieve its organizational goals by recognizing positive work
habits, organizational and supervisor’s priorities, and patient needs on a monthly basis through awards,
compensation, and acknowledgement.
Help staff feel well supported and cared for to maintain emotional intelligence that is associated with empathy,
job satisfaction, and social support. This sense of job security would undermine and discredit any attempts for
resilience and grapevine communication that would endanger the new approaches in the organization.
