Choose two works that deal with a similar theme or issue but are written at different periods and write an essay that examines the influence of the earlier work upon the later one. For example, you could look at Queen Elizabeth's "Speech to the Troops at Tilbury" and discuss how that speech influenced Bradstreet's poem about Queen Elizabeth. Or you might examine Wollstonecraft's influence on Cady Stanton. Though this is not a research paper, for Option 2, do some cursory research to make sure that it is plausible that the later author would have been aware of the earlier author's work.
