Martin Luther King, Jr. “I have a Dream Speech”Analysis

One of the most important speeches in the history of America is the “I have a Dream Speech”. This heart warming speech marked the beginning of a new era in the black history. Things have changed a lot since King Jr spoke before the masses but the fight he started is not over yet. However, King made use of his powerful rhetoric to make people think in a new direction and to persuade them to find logic in unity and togetherness. His logic lay in non violence as was Mahatma Gandhi’s.
He was thinking of a bright future where the Whites and the African Americans could share space in the same society and could build a stronger nation free of discrimination. If millions became the followers of King and joined him in the war then the reason was his rhetoric in which they could see inspiration and hope. Martin Luther King Jr. had delivered this speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on 28 August 1963.

Now that we understand the rhetorical situation, your next assignment is to write an essay in which you argue for which section or paragraph of the speech is the strongest in King’s argument.
