There are 8 parts to the assignment that make up the whole of 10-12 pages, title, abstract intro, literature review, data & methods, analysis and results, conclusion and works cited, the assignment should focus on how language is used and practiced within the boston REIA community, the ways they talk, act, think, value and how they define themselves + what distinguishes members from non-members. The introduction tells the reader what this article is about; what the author plans to do in the paper/ article; why readers should care about the study (or “problem”); what the author is trying to test or show; and how the researcher/ writer intends to contribute to the field of Study. In your Methods and Data section, you will explain to your readers how you did your research. Tell your readers what methods you used to find the information used to create your research article. You have two objectives here: establishing your credibility to speak on
your topic (your ethos) and making visible to your readers what was involved in doing your research. If you are part of the Discourse community you researched, you can (should)
explain your role/involvement with the community. The literature review should be an annotated bibliography of your sources and how they apply to your topic and should end with your hypothesis concerning the study. The Analysis and Results section of your paper is meant to answer the question “What did the author (you) find?” This section is devoted to discussing what you found when you collected and analyzed your data for your case study. Conclusion is meant to answer the question “What does it all mean and why is it important?” Other things the conclusion should tell the reader: the authors’ overall findings; why these findings are important; limitations of the study (if any) – in other words, things you were not able to research or had to leave out; and suggestions for future research (if any).
