Miami as a designated city

Present a profile of an American city. I’ll accept any major or minor city in the U.S. other than New York City; you may, however, profile one of its five Burroughs. The profile should introduce the city to a reader unacquainted with it: its size, (brief) history, geographic location, demographics, and politics should be included at a minimum. Building from there, I am looking for information related to historical or current challenges: think about finances, environmental problems, service provision, poverty, crime, etc. You may include as many or as few of these as you wish. Focus on what you find interesting or compelling, to induce interest in the reader. In the end, the reader should feel comfortably knowledgeable about the city and its circumstances.
