Bridges poem attached to create the lesson.
Create an opportunity for the 5th Grade “Class” to understand what will be presented for the lesson.
See below of examples that a Candidate could use to introduce the lesson to the class. This is your
chance to be creative. • Create a starter….
o Examples: “We’ve all had a time”…..; Think about……; Have you ever heard of………;
o Bring in the start to create “real-world” examples to what your students may be able to connect to.
• Create a connection to the work.
• Point out vocabulary words and meaning for students that may not know or understand
o Point out words, examples and meanings of the words.
• Give a short background of author, their work and/or life.
• Help class visualize the passage.
o “Picture in your mind what the author is trying to show you.”
o “Picture what is going on in the story.”
o “Picture how the people in the story felt”
