More Inclusive Design

Meyer and Wachter-Boettcher's (2016) book calls for designers of digital products to identify the assumptions about a "normal" user and "normal" user scenarios that are inherent in their design and to instead design for a wider, more realistic range of people and less-than-ideal scenarios.

  1. Choose and describe an example from the reading of a digital design that made simplistic assumptions about its users or failed to take into account certain "less-than-ideal" user scenarios.
  2. Give an example of your own experience of a digital design that makes the same kind of simplistic assumptions and tells us what you would do to improve the design.
