Interpreting information in a case study, relating the case to the research in classroom
management and management of student conduct and motivation, and devising a management plan that deals
with the problem are requisite skills for the professional educator.
Directions: You will identify the range of problems embedded in a case study, review the literature concerning
management of student conduct and motivation, and develop a behavioral intervention plan to deal with the
problems presented in the case. The final product will be a completed behavior intervention plan. This case
study creates opportunities for you to develop the skills of critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making,
and reflective practice as they pertain to classroom management and student motivation issues.
You should do the following:
- Conduct the first stage of your analysis of the situation presented:
• Read the case study as if this really happened in your classroom.
• Identify the problems you believe are important and rank them in order from most important to least
important. - Create a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) utilizing the forms provided by Miami Dade County Public
Schools.
