Plato and Aristotle
Plato and Aristotle pit themselves against one another in the debate over the value of rhetoric. As your
textbook states, “most people today do not give speeches in legislative assemblies but most write memos,
emails, and engage in debate” (Austin 110). Compose a thesis driven essay in which you argue for the
usefulness of rhetorical strategy in the modern context using a specific case study (media/ speech in the past 2
years) as an example. You may also cite Aristotle in support of your argument.
