As discussed in class, police often find themselves at the center of social controversy. Recently, it has been the issue of race. Are issues of race real? How would a typical police officer explain the issue of race and the use of force? Explain these using class concepts, such as the police subculture, siege mentality, and historic context of professionalism of the reform era. Contrast this viewpoint of minority communities and stats showing incidents, such as racial profiling and the stats that show this perspective. Lastly, what should we do to resolve this conflict?
