In order to complete your primate behavioral observation project, you will need to choose one of these
webcams to watch for a total of 2 hours. This corresponds with Lab 11 Ex. 2. When possible, try to make your
observation hours continuous. If you cannot, it is recommended that you observe for a minimum of 30 minutes
at a time.
Remember that these cameras are live and that you will have to account for differences in time zones. For
example, the gorilla cam is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is 8 hours ahead of us. If you log in
at 2 pm, it will be 10 pm there and you’re not likely to see anything.
One other big thing to keep in mind is that the animals we observe do not behave for us! They will go offcamera, sleep, just sit around, or disappear for a while. It can be boring and frustrating for us, but this is a
normal part of behavioral observation!
