1. Prince and Fed were from very different backgrounds. Did that have an effect on their experiences as slaves? If so, how? 2. Prince and Fed lived most of their enslaved years in different parts of the South. Did local geography seem to have an effect on their experiences as slaves? If so, how? 3. How did the men cope with being slaves? What kinds of strategies did they employ? 4. Ultimately, Prince and Fed both became free men. How did their paths to freedom differ. Why? 5. What can we learn from the experiences of slaves like Prince and Fed? Does this enrich our understanding of slavery? If so, how?
