Identify a practice problem or opportunity for improvement at your organization. This problem must both impact patient care quality and organizational costs. You should be thinking on the microsystem level (see Hall & Roussel Ch. 10). Although you do not have to provide the figures now, the problem should be able to be substantiated with an incidence and cost. (If you do not currently have a relationship with an organization or have difficulty getting the needed information from your facility at any point when preparing your assignment, reach out to your primary faculty so that they can advise you accordingly.)
Current Situation: Describe how the problem is currently being addressed (if at all) and why the current policy or practice is inadequate to resolve the problem.
Proposed Evidence-Based Solution: Describe the specific evidence-based intervention (from available published research) you are proposing as a solution to this problem.
Impact of the Policy Change: Identify the expected outcomes that will result from the project implementation. This must address both how care will improve and how money will be saved (or made). These outcomes should benefit your unit, office, organization specifically (as opposed to the healthcare system in general). Summarize the results of at least one study on the topic that could be used to support your presentation. Include an APA-formatted reference for the article.
