Leslie – This is a very good start and the research plan is very promising. I suggest you focus on topics of “family, education, and status” and relate the economy and livelihood to those topics. This way you can compare and contrast differences resulting from immigration experiences. You can also examine the generational and gender differences in immigration experiences and adaptation to their new environment.
The list of references suggests that you have identified some reliable sources to support your research. Some of those references, however, seem to focus mostly on historical and political analysis. It’s important to learn about the history and politics so you can understand the context of what your interviewees have experienced. You’ll need to identify other helpful anthropological sources. The challenge now is to clearly link anthropological concepts (family, kinship, marriage, mode of livelihood) to specific points in your own research.
Please use cited sources in the first paper.
Objective: Conduct a short ethnographic project and submit a paper (8-10 pages) analyzing your research from an anthropological perspective. This project will challenge you to practice the anthropological mindset of asking questions, making connections, and learning new things.GuidelinesThis project will introduce you to research in anthropology. As fieldworkers, we must decide where to be participant-observers and whom to choose as informants. In this project, you will research the topic of immigration and interview one or more immigrants. The project will consist of two phases.
Similar to any other paper, you need to support and develop your main points by using specific examples from your data collection. Present your findings, engage in analysis, and formulate your conclusions.
