It is time for you to get your hands dirty (metaphorically speaking) with some actual research on climate change. For the midterm project, I want each of you to identify and read one article related to your upcoming poster session. You can choose an article from one of the following cites on JSTOR or a relevant section from the Fourth National Climate Assessment, The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change or the Global Climate Report. The links for these articles are provided below. This project will help you to get started on your poster projects as well as allowing you to see what scientists actually are saying about climate change. If you are doing your poster in a group, then you should each choose a different article on the same topic(that way you can share your insights about what you read with your other poster participants).
Once you have chosen an article or section to read, I want you to address the following questions in eight to ten pages (double spaced, 12 pt.), with the full citation of the article followed by your own name at the top of the first page of your paper.
What are the qualifications of the author or authors of the manuscript? What are their basic findings? Do they provide statistical evidence for their findings? If not, do they cite other sources for their conclusions and if so, who do they cite? Do their findings come with a recommendation for subsequent action or do their findings conclude that climate change is due to factors other than human behavior? Do you find their arguments convincing or are their problems with their analysis?
