Have read Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz’s “Hispanic in America: Starting Points,” Ehrenreich’s “Cultural Baggage,” and Anzaldua’s “How to Tame a Wild Tongue.” Have completed activities on Gist Statements, Paraphrase, and Summary.

Write a Rhetorical Analysis of an essay you did not choose to use for Short Writing Assignment 3 by accurately identifying the four main aspects of a work: situation for writing, writer’s purpose, the writer’s main and minor claims, and the writer’s audience. Utilize at least one and fewer than three quotations from the essay chosen, accurately introducing the context for the quote and explaining (summarizing) what is meant. Make and expand on at least one connection to another essay we have read.
