Richmond's chapter 9, "The Frontier is Settled" covers a large number of problems as well as the peoples' responses to them. Utilizing the entire chapter, discuss the hardships pioneers faced (drought, depression, etc.), how they dealt with them (adaptations such as sod houses and windmills), and how, through these hardships Kansans developed their communities and agriculture.
