Scope is planning and risk management areas
Find attached in a word document the literature review outline, please use all the references mentioned in there.
Find attached a PDF with all instructions for part 2.
You can take 15 of the 16 references from the word document and the missing one it is included here
Assessment name: Background to research and significance of the research project
Part 1 300 words
Synthesise these works to identify a research gap that you believe exists (it may well be that
the gap does not exist in the form that you imagine and that is okay. You can always refine
or tweak your problem statement as you learn more of the literature)
Describe the problem clearly. If necessary touch upon related areas.
Part *** words
1. Identify your key concepts and constructs. The first step is to pick out the key terms from
your problem statement. Concepts often have multiple definitions, so the theoretical
framework involves clearly defining what you mean by each term. Key constructs are the
building blocks of any theory. They are the elements in the theory and are theoretical
representations of the concepts.
2. Evaluate and explain relevant theories. By conducting a thorough literature review, you can
determine how other researchers have defined and drawn connections between these key
concepts. After discussing different models and theories, you establish the definitions that
best fit your research and justify why this is the case.
3. Contextualise your theoretical framework. Apart from discussing other people’s theories,
the theoretical framework should show how these will be modified and contextualised to
the research problem that you identified in your previous assessment, incorporating any
feedback received.

For part 2:
You may want to use the following as a guide for formulating your own discussion:
Research context
Introduce the following:
– The research background;
– The research problem;
– Context, scope of the study;
Literature Review
Discuss the following:
– Present the literature related to the problem (you can draw from the previous assessment)
Emphasise the underpinning theories that have been applied by prior works in the problem
area. Specifically mention the theories that you will be using in your own framework,
highlight its application or lack thereof in the existing literature.
Theoretical framework
Discuss the following:
– Describe your theoretical framework, contextualising to the concepts that you will be using
in your research
– What justification is used for this theoretical framework?
