Room for Debate”

For the research paper, you will review the ongoing debate over a current event topic and then present your own reasoned opinion on that topic.
To choose a topic, review the New York Times’ “Room for Debate” (www.nytimes.com/ roomfordebate). You must choose from among the topics on this website. Click on the topic’s link to review the varying opinions from different contributors.
In your own essay, you will summarize the competing viewpoints and then offer your own reasoned opinion.
You must refer to at least two articles and then present your own opinion. Your essay should have an introduction with thesis, developed paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Sources: You must refer to and cite at least two articles from the “Room for Debate” website. You can also bring in additional sources from elsewhere. The in-text parenthetical citations and works cited should be in MLA style.
