Two sections: – First (1st): Spottswood, E. L., & Wohn, D. Y. (2020). Online social capital: recent trends in research. Current Opinion in Psychology, 36, 147-152. (Note that you should also read the brief summaries in the references section.) Answer the following questions (each question with its own paragraph): 1. Define bridging and bonding social capital. 2. This “focused literature review” (p. 147) is very brief and includes very few details or specifics. Who do you think would read such an article and for what purpose? 3. Identify 2 areas of scholarly work on social capital you found interesting in this article. For each area, seek out a CSO that supports that particular form of social capital. Explain the CSO briefly and cite your source. **Include quotations** **Keep it simple & clear** **Citations need to include the page numbers even if it’s not a quote** – Second (2nd): Hoda, N., Gupta, S. L., Ahmad, M., & Gupta, U. (2021). Modeling the relationship between Linked-In usage and social capital formation. European Journal of Sustainable Development, 10(1), 624-624. Please also take a few minutes to read the Social Capital Scale (Williams 2006) used by Hoda et al. (2021) to measure the presence of social capital in Linked In. The scale is in Appendix B, pp 618-622. (You may use quotation from this paper but include the citations with the page number). This article represents a very different way to study social capital through mathematical modeling and for use by industry and organizations. The contested meanings, implications, and complexities of social capital that we have engaged thus far are not the focus of this study; instead, they are folded into brief citations. Answer the following questions (each question with its own paragraph): 1. What are the takeaways of this study for scholars? And (per the author) for industry & business? 2. Imagine Putnam reading this article. Write 1-2 paragraphs that put Putnam (2000; 2020) in conversation with Hoda et al. (2014). They have obvious disciplinary differences, but are there conceptual or takeaway overlaps and divergences that you notice? Feel free to draw on the Williams (2006) Appendix B tool that Hoda et al. used to measure social capital, as mentioned above. **Include quotations** **Keep it simple & clear** **Citations need to include the page numbers even if it’s not a quote**
