Develop a Strategy Notebook that contains evidence and research-based Instructional
Strategies that incorporate your needs and interest and reflect best instructional
practices in preK-3rdgrade classrooms.
The instructional strategies should be divided into six (6) key literacy elements:
● Phonemic awareness
● Content Area Literacy
● Teaching Vocabulary Words and Vocabulary Development
● Reading Comprehension Strategies
● Guided Oral Reading
● Writing
The Literacy Strategy Notebook must reflect your understanding of literacy practices
and the reading process related to student comprehension and student learning in all
content areas. Reading is an integral part of all content areas and requires a purposeful
and unique approach in each discipline.
Students should include a minimum of 18 strategies in the notebook (3 strategies for
each element).
