Compare the various Supreme Court cases on religion covered this semester (e.g., Engel v. Vitale, Lemon v. Kurtzman, Sherbert Test, Employment v. Smith, etc.). Has the federal government been successful in maintaining the balance between protecting freedom of religious expression and preventing the establishment of an official religion? Why or why not?
