Context:
Working in a small group of 2 to 4 people, you are to create an exciting event, and find a
company who can be a potential majorsponsor for the event. You can use the event you chose
in Assessment 2, if you are in the same group, or another event of your choosing.
You MUST identify the majorsponsor and addressthe sponsorship proposal to them directly in
the first person i.e. “We are excited to present to you ‘Sponsor A’ our proposal for your
participation in our event ‘X’ etc.
You are then to develop a formal sponsorship proposal. Consider an existing sponsorship
prospectusfor another event and tailor it to your event and its specific unique qualities.
Instructions:
This assessment isto be in a proposal format. In doing so, the proposal should include,
but not be limited to, the following:
Background of the event
How doesthe sponsor’s value/goals align with that of the event?
What is the potential sponsor/company sponsoring? (e.g. goods,
services, monetary etc.)
What are the benefits for sponsoring your event?
Why should they sponsor?
Finance report of the event including the different financial components (e.g.
investment, grants, ticketing, sponsorship etc.). The report should include
revenue items, expense items and then derive at a net income which might
profit or loss.

The financial report should include revenue items, which include the revenue from ticket sales,
sponsors and exhibitors, government grants and any other financial sources and in-kind
contributions, expense items and then derive at a net income which might be profit or loss.
It is important to consider what the financial contribution of in-kind sponsorship provides to the
event.
You should also consider, while selecting sponsorsfor your event, to avoid direct competitors
(e.g. Coca-Cola and Pepsi; Woolworths, and Coles or Aldi.)
Despite the fact that the assessment is a proposal that would typically be presented to the
decision maker of the sponsoring company, it should contain the appropriate references. It
should contain a minimum of 10 references.
