The impacts of events

Rationale

This assessment is designed to provide you with the opportunity to develop your understanding of the impacts of events from one of the following perspectives: socio-cultural, economic and environmental.

The event impacts element considers the various potential effects of events and how these might be managed.

Developing an in depth understanding of an event’s impacts will help event managers like you to plan and implement appropriate actions aiming at maximising the positive benefits and minimising potential negative consequences of the event.

We had three title to choose from and this is what I picked.

ASSIGNMENT TITLE: “Critically evaluate the long term economic benefits of hosting a cultural event (I have chosen to write about Rio Carnival)”

Preparation and Research

You must academically underpin your work. To prepare for this assignment, you should refer to your lecture notes, and the recommended reading lists including books and journals. You should read well beyond the lecture notes. Your ability to use material not used in the lectures will gain you marks. There are a wealth of texts and sources available on the subject of event management and impacts.

The theoretical discussion of your chosen impacts assignment must be supported by published literature including peer reviewed journal articles as well as traditional events and management textbooks. (Choose the most relevant models to this event and critically evaluate how these model are applied in the event, you can use models from lectures which I will upload)

Your list of references at the back of your work should contain at least 15 academic references (at least 10 must be journal articles).
