“The Philosophy of Berserk”

In the YouTube video “The Philosophy of Berserk”, (also called the Info video) the themes and concepts of horror, the sublime and categorical violation are all discussed. After watching the first part of this three part trilogy, (you’re welcome to watch the other two but be warned that each one is more intense), describe your reaction to this violence. Were you appalled? Do you agree with Noel Carroll’s statements that the horror genre allows us to perceive from a critical distance? What can be gained from such an experience? Last, discuss some of the parallels that you can see from Berserk as it relates to the Apocalyptic themes discussed in Napier’s chapter
