The reasons for increased political polarization in America

As described by Tesene on pages 699-706, what are the reasons for increased political polarization in America? Do you believe that the Great Recession of 2008-2009 significantly contributed to political polarization in America? In your answer, be sure to discuss the problems suffered by the residents of Dayton in the documentary “Left Behind America”. As cited in lecture and readings (Pages 25-31 and 46-51), what do conflict theorists cite as the reasons why high levels of economic inequality are harmful. In your opinion, would there be significantly less political polarization in the United States if economic inequality had remained at the level it was in the 1970’s? Lastly, do you believe that political polarization is more likely to decrease or increase over the next ten years? Defend your answer.
