U2 Incident during cold war

One of the incidents mentioned is the U2 Incident. See what you can find out about the pilot of the aircraft. Tell me who he was, where he came from, what ultimately happened to him and how Americans treated him after his return to the states. His son is a friend of mine, so be accurate!
