Scenario
As the care coordinator for an adult health and social care setting (with clients suffering from dementia, age
related health conditions, learning disability and autism), you are required to understand how your clients and
colleagues perceive health, illness, disability, and behavior in order for you to plan how to meet all their
demands. Prepare a write up in the form of a report for your colleagues and manager analyzing the concepts of
health, disability, illness and behavior (AC 1.1), assessing how these perceptions have changed over time (AC 1.2).
The report should also include an analyze the impact of legislation, social policy, society and culture on the ways that services are made available for individuals with specific needs (AC. 1.3). Demonstrate coherence and logical
development of concepts (M3) and the ability to synthesize a range of ideas and arrive at justifiable conclusions
(D1)

Task 2 (LO2) – Approaches and intervention strategies that support individuals with specific needs. Evidence
type: Oral Presentation with PowerPoint slides, video recording, and observation report)
Relating to your current health and social care workplace, prepare an oral presentation for the new inductees to
evaluate approaches and intervention strategies that support individuals with specific needs. The presentation
must include an analysis of the specific needs of two individuals in your care setting (AC 2.1), an explanation of the
current systems for supporting individuals with specific needs (AC 2.2) and an evaluation of the services for
individuals with specific needs (AC 2.3) and the effectiveness of intervention strategies for an individual (AC 3.2).
In your presentation, you must demonstrate effective judgment (M1). Justify your conclusions on the needs of
the two individuals (M2) and demonstrate independence in the preparation and management of the oral
presentation.

Task 3: Current approaches and intervention strategies
In a professional discussion with your assessor explaining the approaches and interventions available to support
individuals with specific needs (3.1) and Discuss the potential impact of emerging developments on support for
individuals with specific needs (3.3)

Task 4: Challenging behavior (Evidence type- Newsletter).
Prepare a newsletter article on challenging behavior for your quarterly newsletter explaining the different
concepts of challenging behavior (AC 4.1) and describing its potential impact on health and social care
organizations (4.2) and analyzing strategies associated with working with challenging behaviors associated with
specific needs (4.3). Demonstrate the ability to generate ideas and make effective decisions on strategies for
working with challenging behavior. (D3)
