Urban Design Exercise

Select a building or development in the community of your choice
Visit the site at least 2 times at different days and times during the week / weekend
Use photos attached
Take pictures of the site (at least 5 from different angles must be included in your report)
Provide a 3 – 5 page (including map and pictures, but at least 2 1/2 pages of text) that includes:
Map of site (can be google map)
Description of the building and the uses of the building
Discussion of how the building fits into surrounding development (complementary architecture, etc.)
Accessibility of the site, especially for pedestrians and cyclists
Any sustainable features the site may have
Is it easily accessible without a car? Is it welcoming to pedestrians / cyclists? Does it have excessive
impervious cover / oversized parking lot? Is it mixed use? Is the character and design complementary to
surrounding sites? Does it incorporate native landscaping / LID features? Rainwater harvesting? Solar panels?
Provide recommendations for how the site can be made more sustainable
