choose two or three scenes (four could be a possibility, but run your idea by me before you include a fourth scene) from Willa Cather’s O Pioneers! and discuss how they display progress or a lack of progress in the world the novel builds. Interpret progress through whichever lens you wish. You may discuss how Cather’s novel shows the progression or stagnation of ethics, morals, equality, economic development or accessibility, religious belief or secularism, tolerance and/or diversity, or any topic of your choice. You may use the OED for this paper, but you are not required to bring in any outside sources. A strong paper will show how Cather’s literary techniques impact/influence your argument.
