If we consider writing as part of a dynamic ‘ecosystem’, one that is influenced and shaped by technological
change, what new possibilities does writing in a digitally networked environment open up? Discuss using
one of the digital sites from this semester (i.e. Welcome to Pine Point, Snowfall, etc). In your answer you
will need to define ‘writing ecology’ and explain how the site you have chosen fits into such a space. You
must refer to at least three set readings from the unit and four scholarly sources from the library databases.
Reference your assignment using APA and inciude a reference list. Length: 1000 words (not including
references).
In considering and developing your response we encourage you to engage with some of the following
questions:
- What can be evoked or represented or analysed on a screen, and how is it different to evoking,
fepresenting and analysing what is written on a page? - How has your chosen site evolved; that is, has it gone through a process of remediation?
- How does your chosen site enable new possibilities of expression and reader
engagement/interaction/participation? And what experiences or possibilities for engagement does it prohibit
or discourage? - What are the affordances and limitations of your chosen site? (Think structure, modes of expression,
potential for interaction, collaboration and community-building.) - As well as presenting research, offer your own perspective (backed up by research and examples).’
