A psychiatric advance directive

Helping a Client craft or develop a psychiatric advance directive for when he or she can no longer care for themselves is a part of the WRAP model of recovery. Why would having a psychiatric advance directive be important? What ethical and personal issues may arise for the client if they do not have a psychiatric advance directive? How can nurses help clients make decisions regarding making these types of decisions ?
