Automatic and controlled processes.

Social psychology makes a big deal about the distinction between automatic and controlled processes. There are individual differences in the extent to which people tend to lean automatic vs. controlled. Are you more of a “go with your gut” type of person who tends to make quick decisions and go with them (an automatic emphasis), or are you more of a “think it through” person who likes to take their time (a controlled emphasis? Or, does it depend on the situation? How well does your approach work? What are its pros/cons?
