Canty, “Reunion” Characterization map

Choose a character from Canty, “Reunion” story
1) This paper studies how the character is created by writing a summary, itemizing two or three impressions of the character, and mapping all the passages where these impressions are created. This can take the form of a list, of a grid, of a color-coded highlight with annotations.
a. Format: quotations should be quoted. All references to the story, quoted or not, should bear parenthetical page citation (to the story page number, not the packet). See examples on this sheet.
2) Analyze what methods of characterization the author is using to establish each of your two or three impressions. (Also, where it seems significant, which methods aren’t used?) Does the method change over the course of the story? From what method to what method (and when, and can you say why?)
3) Write a concluding note that observes what this exercise has revealed about how this character is built, or how changes in the character are revealed.
