The FAA mission statement is to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world. Implementing safety measures is the priority with the volume of air travel conducted for economical or personal requirements. The FAA provides regular updates to the electronic codes of federal regulations that facilitates dissemination for compliance. The FAA website provides current airport status and delays in addition to Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) that could impact travel.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was founded in 1944 to support the United Nations (UN) with international (Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). The ICAO mission is a global scale of conducting studies and analysis while building the growth of the civil aviation system. The ICAO 2014 Safety Report indicated 3.1 billion passenger travel in 2013, up from 2.9 billion in 2012. The executive summary provides Runway Safety Programme and Fatigue Risk Management Systems to identify hazards to keep pace with expanding the sector safely. The report identifies regions that experienced significantly higher accident rates or challenges and works to improves safety for future air travel.
