When you use the term “data,” you mean not only scores in high-stakes tests but also the broad array of other information on student skills and knowledge typically available in schools. Schools administer benchmarks, readiness tests, end-of-course exams, classroom tests, projects, homework – these are just some of the kinds of data that educators examine in targeting areas for instructional improvement. Think about the types of data that you collect to guide and drive your instruction.
In this unit’s Discussion Board, share your ideas on data collection:
How often data should be collected?
What is the rationale as to why you select the data that you use?
How your data is used and how it guides your instruction.
What setting you complete your data analysis in (professional learning communities, school collaborative meetings, grade level meetings, etc.),
How do you share your results with students, parents, and colleagues?
Reflect on the ways you use data and to what degree does it guide your work with students?
