Democracy

1.) The West judges Iran harshly and former President George W. Bush (and even Donald Trump) have alluded to them as being part of an “Axis of Evil.” Yet there is little doubt that a majority—possibly even a large majority—of Iranian citizens support the regime (if not always the government of the day). What does this say for democracy and legitimacy? Where should we draw the line in how much governments should be allowed to withhold rights from minorities within their polity? Should outside actors have the right to impose a government on a people if the global community believes the current one lacks legitimacy, even if a majority of the people in that nation disagree?
