BACKGROUND:
Examples of demonstrating courage/displaying strength/sharing wisdom/making a positive impact:
-Lead a national student campaign to raise funds for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and other rare blood disorders. Raised over $110,000. Managed a team of multi-generational members. Pitched campaign goals and secured pledges, corporate sponsorships, and auction items from key donors. -Now a Junior Leadership Team member to help recruit and mentor prospective student candidates for new campaign class. Host interest meetings, and assist in planning and fundraising.
-One of only six high school students to graduate from an MIT-based program that teaches students to plan, design, and engineer projects using digital fabrication tools, 2D/3D modeling, electronics programming, and web design. Designed and built an innovative non-touch sterilizing eyeglasses cleaner inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic to provide a real-world solution.
-Volunteer as a 1) math tutor helping fellow classmates master difficult math concepts and 2) youth football coach helping teach the younger generation the fundamentals of the game and sportsmanship.
Examples of how I intend to continue a positive journey with assistance from the scholarship
-assistance from this scholarship would have a tremendous impact in offsetting the financial burden to cover the high cost of college tuition and allow me a chance to achieve my ultimate goal of attending an engineering-focused university that will expand my engineering abilities to create solutions, effect real change with a much broader reach and help make a difference
-investing in me is an investment in the next generation of future engineers
