Assignment: Choose a “monster” as defined by the course, and provide the historical background to that “monster” in its home territory. The “monster” must be linked in some way to Europe in the 19th Century, though how this link is made is up to the student.
Provide where the “monster” was from, its cultural roots, how the people of its period viewed it, reacted to it, etc. Additionally, explain any cultural or social importance of this “monster” in this society.
Then compare this “monster” to the same, or a similar one in two other separate European locations (for example, if your monster was from Spain, use two other places that are not Spanish for your comparison, like England or Russia). Explain how your “monster” was different or the same in those other societies.

The essay should begin with a clear, specific, and argumentative thesis that accurately explains your ideas on how these “monsters” are similar or different.

I will attach my original paper as well with marks on it by the teacher

This paper is comparing a monster (like the bogeyman) to where it was found in other places of the world during the long 19th century period. Below are some more instructions that the teacher attached to his slides.

Pick a monster – Any monster!
This monster needs to have a connection in some way to the 19th century, and to Europe (as we defined it on Tuesday)
Give the history of this monster
Where it was found, when, etc
Detail what the monster tells us about the people in that place/time.

Tell me about what fears it represented
Tell me what folklore exists about your monster
Then… pick 2 (Two) other “European” places and compare your monster to a similar (or the same) monster in those other places.
For example, if you pick a monster from England, choose 2 other places like the Balkans, or Brazil, to compare.
Explain how the monsters in these places are the same or different and why
