Deciding how to act when an RBT/supervisee is not performing to standards
What would you do to deal with this issue?
Sample Solution
Managing supervision with other responsibilities (time management): I would create a schedule of when to perform each task related to supervision and stick to it. I would also prioritize tasks in order of importance, so that the most important ones are completed first. Additionally, I would delegate certain tasks or ask for help from others if necessary.
Providing effective and individually-tailored supervision to each supervisee: To deal with this issue, I would assess each supervisee's individual needs and tailor my approach accordingly. This could include meeting more frequently with certain individuals who may need more guidance or providing additional resources as needed. Additionally, I would ensure communication methods are tailored to the individual - using different modalities depending on which is best suited for the situation such as in-person meetings, emailing/messaging etc.
Deciding how to act when an RBT/supervisee is not performing to standards: If an RBT/supervisee is not performing up to expectations, then it is important to take action quickly and appropriately. First, I would speak directly with the RBT/supervisee about their performance issues and discuss ways they can improve or receive additional support if needed. Additionally, disciplinary actions such as warnings or discontinuing service may be necessary in some cases depending on the severity of the issue(s). When taking action against a supervisee it is also important that any decisions made are based on evidence collected throughout their period of employment in accordance with policies & procedures set out by governing bodies such as BACB guidelines & state laws regarding professional conduct & ethical behavior within mental health services settings.
