Medical terms

1.Part A: Many medical terms are listed as “commonly misspelled words.” Discuss two strategies for
recognizing correctly and incorrectly spelled terms and suggest two ways to avoid making mistakes in
spelling.
1.Part B: People in science and health care professions often use medical eponyms – terms that are named
after people. Research medical eponyms and contribute at least 2 for the whole class to learn. Your terms
should not duplicate those of other students who have already responded to this discussion. Provide a brief
description of each eponym and tell where you acquired the terms.
2.Memory techniques are one of most critical study skills for health science students. There are an
enormous number of medical terms to be learned in the next modules for all ten human biological systems.
It is nearly impossible for you to memorize all the medical terms you will hear in the class or in the
workplace. Discuss this concern with your classmates and then discuss some of the most effective methods
to retain the large amount of information. What techniques do you think will be most effective for you? What
have you tried that has worked and what has not?
