Oxfam in Liberia and Foundation for Community Initiative (FCI)

Oxfam in Liberia and Foundation for Community Initiative (FCI) are partnering on this European Union
funded project which focuses on challenging and changing discriminatory social norms, attitudes and
practices to prevent sexual and gender-based violence, especially violence against women and girls. A
minimum of 65% of the project funds will go to third party organizations, selected through this call for
proposals. Strengthening the institutional, technical and financial capacities of women’s rights
organizations and movements is thus the other main focus of the action.
The Enough! Project will mobilize communities and women and girls’ rights organizations/groups for
advocacy and dialogue towards the passage and implementation of a law that criminalizes domestic
violence. It will help survivors access services and justice as a stop-gap measure, while researching
and piloting alternative, sustainable emergency and transitional safe spaces for survivors. The action
will also involve a mentorship program on transformative leadership for women’s rights, and Enough!
Campaign activities to transform social norms that underpin violence against women and girls and
blame the victims of violence. Men and boys, women and girls will be encouraged to adopt and
promote gender equitable social norms, attitudes and behaviors at the community, relationship and
individual level. The action will be carried out in communities in Rivercess, Sinoe, Grand Gedeh,
Montserrado and Margibi counties.
