Course readings attached -You should draw on at least three (3) course readings for this essay. You MUST
include a discussion of Elizabeth Anderson (The Anderson article is attached) and the different types of
freedom. And be sure to include/discuss other relevant authors include Chang, Perrow, Hayek, and more (all
these course readings are attached). –Do not include a title page. -Use 12-pt, Times New Roman font, and
one-inch margins. -Use 1-2 direct quotes or paraphrasing from the class readings I will attach. Be sure to have
in-text citations as an endnote or footnote after a quote is used, along with citing the author on the works cited
page. Author date style citations. -You need to focus on answering all parts of each question, but should do so
in a clear and succinct way. If it’s not important to the question prompt, or your argument, leave it out! -Use an
author-date citation system, and include a single works cited page for the essay at the end of your document
but does not count as the 3 page essay, separate page. -Be sure to answer each of the following questions in
their entirety. A successful answer will do the following clearly and compellingly: 1) answer each part of the
questions 2) use class readings accurately, 3) cite those readings accurately and 4) write so that your ideas are
clear. -Include a thesis statement at the end of the first paragraph (introductory paragraph). The strongest
essays (e.g. the “A” papers) will be cohesively organized with a (brief) introductory paragraph that contains a
thesis statement. It is impossible to write an A paper without a thesis statement (an overarching claim that
guides the organization of your essay). -Have a strong conclusion paragraph to wrap it all up. -Make sure to
have the following: Does your paper have a clear focus and central thesis that can be summarized in 1-2
sentences and that answers an implied question or questions? Is it effectively organized, leading to a clear
conclusion? Does your paper SUPPORT claims with evidence, including reasoning, examples, analogies, and
findings/ideas of authorities? Does it appropriately and accurately quote, paraphrase, and summarize articles
and attribute those ideas to their authors?
