Students will develop a 1,250-1375 word paper that includes the following information as it applies to the problem, issue, suggestion, initiative, or educational need profiled in the capstone change proposal:
- Background- Describe why this problem is important to nursing. (Ex: Financial burden, how it affects patients, what would stakeholders want to read to want to be a part of it?)
- Problem statement- Describe the specific problem as it relates to the practice site. (Ex: Lack of education , resources, staff might not know how to implement best practice)
- Purpose of the change proposal- What do you hope to achieve once this proposal is implemented. What are the goals?
- PICOT- Just ensure to incorporate the PICOT statement abd refer to it throughout paper.
- Literature search strategy employed-Describe how you went about the research. (EX:research databases, key words used..etc)
- Evaluation of the literature- What are the common themes amongst all the articles or contradictory?
- Applicable change or nursing theory utilized- Select a nursing theory and apply to capstone, planning, implementation, sustainability?
- Proposed implementation plan with outcome measures- Outcome measures must match the O in the picot statement?
- Identification of potential barriers to plan implementation, and a discussion of how these could be overcome- Pick out potential barriers that might be faced and come up with resolutions for them (a plan).
- Appendix section, if tables, graphs, surveys, educational materials, etc. are created.
