Representation and Reality

Representation and Reality
Assignment 2
I study mass communication. My professor required us to go to photographic exhibition and think about this essay. Read Sontag, S. On Photography (London: Penguin Classics, 2002): pp. 3-24.(you can see this article by files )

• Write an essay of not more than 3000 words in length, which critically discusses this comment:

• Susan Sontag argued in On Photography that, “Essentially the camera makes everyone a tourist in other people’s reality, and eventually in one’s own” (57).

• 3,000 words essay – 70%
• Critically discuss this comment: Susan Sontag argued in On Photography, that “ Essentially the camera makes everyone a tourist in other people’s reality, and eventually in one’s own” (p. 57)

Critical

• The word “critical” can seem negative, it is associated with condemning, disparaging, judging or finding fault.
• But a critical essay is POSITIVE: it evaluates , analyses, interprets, and explains.

• Come up with a clear line of argument, express your key points in complete sentences, select your evidence (which case studies are you considering?), why is your answer original?
• Remember that your answer should show that you have read widely
It should also demonstrates you have evaluated the evidence and have a clear argument
Use the theory from what we learn from classes.
